Jay Lacklen
Jay Lacklen is a retired Air Force reserve pilot with 12,000 military flying hours. He grew up in Arlington, VA, and graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel in 1969. He entered service in 1970 and retired in 2004. He flew in all conflicts from Vietnam to the Iraq War. Twice he appeared in opposition to the Air Force on the CBS News program “60 Minutes.” This three-book memoir portrays Air Force life in the last third of the 20th Century. Jay provides his memoir as a voice for the SAC B-52 bomber crews and the thousands of airlift crew members who have experienced the same military bomber and air transport sagas he describes in detail. It is his story, but it is their story too. Lacklen is married and resides in Vienna, VA. He has four daughters and two granddaughters.
